| ABSTRACT
Touchscreen displays are now ubiquitous in everyday life however only recently have they been integrated into cockpits of transport category aircraft. In particular overhead panels have been devoid of displays and touchscreens. This talk will review the system functions of overhead panels and the transition of those functions to touchscreen displays. Technology choices and performance parameters will be covered and a demo of the first instantiation will be given.

SPEAKER BIO
Koji Yugawa is a Principle Project Engineer with Esterline Advanced Displays where he has led multi-disciplinary teams in the launch of dozens of display products for aerospace and defense applications since 1997. His experience has focused on backlighting for AMLCDs, AMLCD ruggedization, NVIS compatibility, LED backlights and most recently touchscreen development and integration. He has a BS in physics from Eastern Washington University and an MS in Optics from the University of Rochester. Koji is a senior member of SID having served as Chair, Treasurer and Secretary for the Pacific Northwest chapter.
