Ben Sturgeon Award

Rank Prize Fund
Dr. Anthony Lowe Award

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2024 SID Ben Sturgeon award is Darran Milne.

Darran has been a pioneer in advancing the commercial success of holographic displays in both augmented (AR) and mixed reality (MR) applications.  In 2017 he created the start-up company VividQ, to exploit the flexibility and efficiency of holographic displays after a period of working with the University of Cambridge Engineering Department as one of the supporting industrial partners, supervising Masters students. During this time, he worked on image compression algorithms for computer generated holography, and it was through this work he realised the real potential of holograms on the next generation of AR and MR displays.
